There are so many pseudo science volunteers out there scheming ways to kill a Hurricane. One USA Today article listed just a few of the ideas that backyard self-proclaimed geniuses had come up with and it was fun to review this at the Online Think Tank. After discussing this for a few years, it seems that perhaps one of these brainstorm concepts might work and thus, we have been reviewing all the information we can to learn more about these disastrous storms.
Not long ago some sent us an email with an attachment labeled "white paper" and in it was a scheme to knock down a Hurricane by throwing sawdust logs out of a Cargo Plane. Sound nuts right? Well this is indeed what we told the originator of the concept; Joan McKinna from Berkeley, or rather the one who makes the claim to have originated the concept.
Irene Hurricane
In ancient times various types of oil were dispersed into the sea by sailors, one science fiction writer; although I cannot for the life of me remember who thought about throwing out sawdust out to stop the Hurricane, no not from a Cargo Military Jet Aircraft, but a similar proposal. Various people have considered throwing out various things over the years and it seems to be a re-occurring popular topic.
Can this concept work? Well, our genius from Berkeley thinks so, using sawdust logs and perhaps dropping them like bombs or out the back of a military aircraft or UAV. Personally, I think that this is a crazy idea, but who knows, some of the other ideas we have read seem a lot crazier than this one. Sincerely, Lance.
